Rants and Raves about "Links from the Underground"

I'm pleased to get comments (good, bad, ugly, bizarre, even the poetical - eliciting a response is fun!). I thought I might share some of them with you. In addition, I wish to express my heartfelt appreciation to the people who make suggestions and corrections to my pages. They are better for your efforts.
I hope they don't mind my printing their shit...

Just a short note to say that I really enjoy your pages... I am a bit confused however at the latest string of auto-biographical content? interesting to read in any case, kind of neet that there is this kind of universal openess I guess..

as well, is it you in that picture by the river carving a stick (and the other pictures of the person looking the same?)

Craig -
Right on both counts. I don't think I could talk as much, or in the same way, about someone other than myself.

I used to write fiction, but at this point, life is weird enough without being made-up. Why not be open? It's more fun that way.

I'd just like to say that I like your writings. Like most, I suppose, I usually browse your site for those famous sex sites. But I recently had a chance to check out some of your writings. I didn't see them all but I think I will. I particularly liked the line "You chose the wrong guide and you blamed the map." Keep it up.

No reply necessary.

Give my regards to Punky.

Thanx. May your camels hump always point North.

> It is ashame that you have taken it upon yourself to censure what
>we the public see.

I have not taken it upon myself to censure anything - I am simply presenting my view of the web. I never claimed to present everything - I only present what I want to. You the public can see whatever you want. If you come to my pages, you are going to see what I want you to.

> Your self-rightous attitude toward the display of porn
>on this server smacks of political correctness and conservatism.

Both? That's quite a feat!

What server/attitude are you talking about? Please explain yourself - I don't take kindly to uncouched claims of closemindedness.

At this point I can not debate your diatribe, since you have not made it clear what bee is buzzing in your bonnet.

> It is not your place
>to restrict the information that could be made available over
>the internet.

It is not your place to tell me what mine is.

Restrict is one word - filter is another.

> A truely objective person would present the information and
>allow the user to excercise his or her ability to discern
>what is for them and what is not.

I never claimed to be a truly objective person - if I was, I'd publish the Yahoo list.

A truly intelligent person would tell me what they objected to instead of ejaculating a simply self-righteous e-assault.

I would feel more sympathetic towards you if you had spent money on me. As it is, you are ranting at someone providing a free net service.

What kind of dialogue did you hope would ensue from your polemic? Perhaps you were kidding. Otherwise, explain yourself.

Dude, after hunting around your site for a couple of days I just had to tell you that it's amazing, it truly rocks! I can honestly say that you've got one of the best sites on the Web.

I especially loved the family page...so, when I read 'Dinner with my Father' I had to tell ya how cool it is. My father bolted when I was a wee tike so I related.

Anyway bud, keep up the good work, this place is one of my regular stops!

Surfed your site, Justin. Actually, I had surfed it a while ago but it got lost in the infinite host list. I am very interested in your site. I think you've done one of the best jobs in squirreling out some of the more interesting, offbeat sites that I'd like to put into IBC.

The problem is, this is a "family Web site" - I'd love to put some of the sites you have up but admittedly some, and I'm sure you know which, I don't want to point at. I can understand if you'd want it to be all our nothing, but I'm not sure I want to point to the whole site. What can we do?

Hey, I just finished perusing your www pages over at Swathmore.
Good shit. (that was a compliment) I went thru your visitors' page
listing all the .MILs and .GOVs. I didn't see my org in there. Why is
that? We waste just as much tax dollars as the next guy so I feel we
should be listed too. So, could you please revise your visitors' page
to include this organization as one of the tax-wasting gov't
institutions that access your web? (done with the bitch session)
Thank you for your support.

Dear Sir.

If You Sir are the editor of 'The Weird, the Wild and the Wonderful on the WWW'-part, I have a request.

Please don't include any links to Daniel C. Robbins. His hard-core pages are totally sick, and in my opinion, has nothing to do with free information or freedom in general. I think there is some link between freedom and responsibility, and his animal-sex pictures has no such link at all!!!

Of course, it is up to You Sir. But consider it, will You?

Sincerly Yours

Knut Arne Karlsen

I recently discovered your set of Web pages, "Justin's Links To The Underground." I _love_ it. You've done a great job of putting all that bizarre stuff in one place.

One question, though-- I've never been able to successfully retrieve the "Barney Blaster" and "Blackboard" files. Is there any trick to this that I'm not using, or are they temporarily down? Would it be possible for you to email me BinHexed versions? Please? (I _really_ want Blackboard...)

Anyhow, thanks a lot. You've made teaching the WWW to my staff a lot more interesting...

First of all, let me ease your paranoia a bit. I am merely a research who happens to work for a military research lab.

Second of all, you have an interesting home page that is keeping me from doing useful work. This is a complement on your page, and a slam on my lack of will.
